What every girl thinks at the gym

Lets talk about the gym. The air-conditioned building full of complicated equipment, dampened t-shirts, water bottles and colourful mini towels. Everyone is there for one reason and one reason only, for their bodies to look better than they already do. Since summer is fast approaching us South Africans, I thought it only fitting to delve into what goes through the mind of an average female whilst at the gym. Its a non-stop analysis of everything and everyone around us, and this is barely scratching the surface.

Us girls have this complicated love hate relationship with the gym. We love what it does for our bodies but usually hate the fact that we have to go in the first place (especially after a long day at work or when we are feel super unmotivated). From secretly racing against the person on the treadmill next to you, to singing along to the upbeat song in the background, it's no wonder our minds race the moment we step foot inside a gym. Maybe its the mixture of spandex and whey protein? Here are our thoughts at gym...

Does my outfit match?

I hope I don't see anyone I know

Are my gym pants see-through?

I bet that skinny bitch is judging me


Am I sweating enough?

I don't know how to use this machine

Maybe I should just do cardio

I want a smoothie!


I should try yoga

Am I doing this exercise right?

Don't look in the mirror for too long


I should have worn a different bra

That guy looks so creepy


I need more motivational music on my ipod

I'm pretty sure I'm not doing this right


These dumb bells are way too heavy but I'm going to go with it

I should check Instagram for some fitness inspiration

Keep running, keep running!


What am I going to eat when I get home?

I wish I could just take a magic pill instead

That girl is wearing so much make-up


I should just copy what the personal trainer is doing

How many effing squats must I do to look like Jen Selter?
