An evening at Madame Zingara

My mom went to Madame Zingara with a group of her friends a while back, and I can remember how insanely envious I was watching her dress up, feather boa and all, to watch a performance that can only be described as a South African Cirque du soleil.

So naturally, when I was offered a ticket to attend this years production of Madame Zingara at Suncoast Casino in Durban, I had to stop myself from screaming it from the rooftops and doing a cartwheel in true Zingara style. FINALLY I would get to experience this weird and wonderful show!

My first corporate event

I was asked to organise a Wellness Day event for the printing company I'm working for, which took place a few days ago after weeks of planning. Hence being too busy to write this blog post until now! Because the staff work in a heavily mechanised environment, events like these are considerably important to each individual working in the company.

The service providers I invited to the event were the Fort Napier team (blood pressure, aids test, mental health), Virgin Active (fitness tests), Capitec Bank (financial planning), the Eye Wellness Group and a private dietitian. We provided healthy goodie bags for each attendee and lucky draw prizes such as gym towels, caps, water bottles and pedometers to name a few. There were still questions from the guys as to where the braai meat, biltong and beer was, but it was 'Wellness Day' hello!

Hilton Arts Fest- Colombo Coffee

Amongst all the food and drink stalls at the Hilton Arts Fest this year, Colombo Coffee was by far the most enticing to me. Since I spent the entire weekend there working at the beer tent, there was a great need for a caffeine boost every now and then. No need to guess where I went for my fix each time!

Hilton Arts Fest- Grolsch

Over the weekend I worked with the SAB brand Grolsch, which were the main contributors of the Hilton Arts Fest beer tent just outside the main Hilton College Theatre. The weekend event was attended by clusters of Hilton College parents, school-going teens and PMB residents all keen to get out of the house and experience some culture.

The premium lager has been made since 1615, with a signature swing top that sets this beer apart from the rest. The excitement for the day was giving out giant 1.5 litre Grolsch magnums to customers who took part in the raffle. It is enough to make any grown man feel like its Christmas and his birthday all in one!

Durban Day

As someone who lived in the city long enough, I somehow never went to Durban Day until this year, and my oh my have I missed out over the years. It was epic.
