A day in the life of an English teacher: BKK

I honestly have the most rewarding job as an English kindergarten teacher, and I live in the huge unpredictable city of Bangkok, Thailand. I thought I would share my typical week day in this wonderful place I call home (for now).

Its such a great feeling to wake up in the morning and not have to drag myself out of bed after hitting the snooze alarm 3 times. I splash some cold water on my face, put on my uniform of black pants and a polo shirt (a different colour for every day of the week) and do my hair and make up. In Thailand the way you present yourself is very important in terms of how others see you. Its more about the fact that you look after yourself than pure vanity, so I put a little more effort into my appearance. In the same way, the Thai teachers that I work with are some of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met, and we are constantly laughing and joking around with each other.

If we were all honest for a day...

Ever wonder what would happen if you had no choice but to be honest for a whole day? I personally think the world would blow up. Us humans don't realise how often we lie on a daily basis, whether it is a huge deliberate lie or a tiny innocent white lie. We all do it, and some are better than others! I'm talking to you sweaty-palmed-avoiding-eye-contact liers.

To be honest (haha I know), I think it would get you into a whole lot of trouble, and possibly effect your future. Watch any episode of 'Real Housewives' and you will see where honesty gets you...possibly being kicked in the face with a Louboutin.

Like I have mentioned before, I could be considered a professional part-time career specialist (completely made-up term) from all the jobs I have had. From being a bartender to an aupair to a personal assistant and promo girl, I have met a lot of people and learnt a lot of things-useful or not.

I have had so many different jobs since I've left high school. I don't like to think of myself as a job-jumper, but being a student means making money through various part-time opportunities. This even included handing out flyers at intersections and working as an assistant at a soya bean conference(don't ask). The one job I never thought I would have was being a bartender.

Money don't come easy for a reason

Am I the only one who thinks about money all the time? How to earn it, how to save it (and my personal favourite) how to spend it! Our lives are ruled by what we can and can't have, whether we realise it or not.
