Spring Fashion Week 2015 has recently taken place, and even though us South Africans are heading towards the end of summer soon, I have picked out some of the main forecasts that can suit any season. I don't think I have been this excited about the emerging trends since stretch skinny jeans, and I feel like each one can suit my personal style. As I have said a thousand times, I prefer the minimal look and I don't often take crazy risks, but this time around I might go slightly out of my comfort zone and be more adventurous with fashion. Here is my SFW 2015 summary of inspring trends:
The Shirt Dress
The shirt dress is another classic that made its mark on the spring runway. Chloe included the shirt dress with their signature knee length lace up sandals (which are becoming a trend in themselves), and A.F Vandevorst took on a more masculine approach with sharp lines and darker colours. One of the most versatile trends, it can be worn in many variations and suits all body shapes. For street style, pair with a belt at the waist and a pair of ballet pumps.

Flatforms and Platforms
Flatforms and platforms are the new shoe trend of the season, channeling the Japanese Geisha look. I would say you have to be slightly daring to take it on, but this style is soon going to be the norm. I don't find flat block sandals very flattering for legs, but if you find the right style you can pull them off. Platforms, however, are my personal favourite. This season it seems to be the higher they are the better, and platforms don't put too much strain on your feet. These shoes have been shown on the runway by Marchesa, Roberto Cavalli and DKNY, each with a different take on the block heel.

Pink, pink, pink
If it hasn't been made clear enough, pink is the colour of the moment. I have never known of one colour to dominate Instagram and every other social media site the way pink has. I feel that it says a lot for feminism and where women are at today, and it is very empowering. Wear romantic pink from head to toe, bright or pastel, bold or subtle. Wear it on your nails, in your make up and just go and buy a whole lot of pink clothes! Pink has been shown on the runway by the likes of Zuhair Murad (who I feel can do no wrong), Chanel, Elie Saab and the great Giambattista Valli

3D Textures
I would say one of the main emerging trends is focused on textures of all kinds, with 3D effects, tassles, flowers and applique. We all know that Balmain has that signature rope trend, and the 'reach out and touch it' look is very much spreading to other designer collections. Karl Lagerfeld centred his entire collection around thick tweed two pieces, while Elie Saab and Ralph and Russo included 3D cut-out flowers, embellishments and ruffled edges.
